About Special Olympics NorfolkSpecial Olympics is a global organisation that provides year-round sports training and competition to 5.7 million children and adults with intellectual disabilities in almost 200 countries.
It is recognised by the International Olympic Committee as the third member of the Olympic family. However, unlike Paralympics (which is for elite disabled sportspeople), it is for all abilities and all ages. Special Olympics Norfolk currently has around 130 athletes training regularly.
We offer six sports:
Some of these groups we run independently, whilst others are run in partnership with mainstream sports groups and organisations.
Special Olympics Norfolk is run in partnership with Active Norfolk and delivered by a small but highly dedicated group of volunteers.
