Special Olympics Nottingham athlete Ben Greatbatch's decision to become a coach has provided basketball opportunities to many of his fellow athletes in Nottinghamshire. Ben did two years as an apprentice coach, received his qualifications as a Basketball England coach, and decided to make use of this to run his own disability sports programme, in order to make basketball more accessible to people with learning difficulties and disabilities. "What made me get into coaching was [helping] people that can't find any sport near them, so they can get into sport and get active." Ben's story is a fantastic example of how volunteering your time and skills can make a huge difference to the lives of those around you.
